Comments: "Great community event that is a fundraiser for the local swim team. They offer several adventure swims in the days prior to the race, taking participants out on boats to nearby islands to swim around, hiking into lakes, and salmon dinner the night before the swim."

Comments: "This event is AMAZING!!! It is my favorite event, amazing organizers, great community, great communication, amazing local pre and post-race food, and the best social activities you’ll ever experience. The week before the swim, there are adventure swims put on by the swim club, which is everything you’d want in an Alaskan experience. They’re fun, wild, and educational with great snack. There is a very informative pre-swim briefing and dinner. The swim event itself is gorgeous with mountain backdrops, salmon jumping and the occasional sea lion. The 10k is a 3-loop course and usually has a 4-hour time limit. All I can say is go and plan an entire week to get the most out of your experience in Sitka. It’s top notch all around!"
