Robben Island

Robben Island is a UNESCO World Heritage site and iconic long-distance swimming location in Table Bay off the coast of Cape Town, South Africa. Henry-Charteris Cooper first swam between the island and the mainland in 1909.

In addition to the classic 7.4 km channel swim from Robben Island to Blouberg (used by the annual Freedom Swim), swimmers have defined a variety of routes to, from, and around the island. This page lists solo Robben Island channel swims (one-way, two-way, and three-way) ratified by the Cape Long Distance Swimming Association. Circumnavigation and loop routes are listed separately.
