Australian Triple Crown
The Australian Triple Crown is a marathon swimming challenge comprised of the Rottnest Channel swim in Western Australia, the Sydney Northern Beaches swim in New South Wales, and the Derwent River swim in Tasmania.
To be included in this list, a swimmer must complete:
- Any natural crossing between Rottnest Island and the Western Australia mainland (19.7 km or longer)*, as part of the annual Rottnest Channel Swim event, the annual Port to Pub event, or as solo swim ratified by the Rottnest Channel Swimming Association. Swims may proceed in either direction but must start and finish by clearing the water on a beach.
- A swim between South Palm Beach and Shelly Beach (24 km) along Sydney's Northern Beaches, either as part of the annual Palm to Shelly event OR as a MSF-ratified independent solo swim. Swims may proceed in either direction (N to S or S to N), but must start and finish by clearing the water on a beach.
- A solo swim in the Derwent River between the New Norfolk Bridge and Tasman Bridge (33.5 km), in either direction, and ratified by either the DRBS or MSF.

* Note: The LongSwims Database recognizes only repeatable, geographically natural routes for purposes of any marathon swimming challenge lists monitored here. Routes delimited by non-permanent buoys (rather than enforced by natural geography) are not precisely repeatable across time. If a route can't be precisely repeated in an out-of-event solo swim, then including it in a "Triple Crown" list effectively enforces a monopoly for the single organizer who sets up the buoy course once a year. The repeatable, geographically natural, and most historically relevant route across the Rottnest Channel is 19.7 km. Swimmers who choose to swim an extra 5km along a buoy course before crossing the channel are still eligible for this list, as long as they start and finish on shore.
