Great Chesapeake Bay Swim - results index

The Great Chesapeake Bay Swim is a 4.4-mile open water race along the length of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Maryland. The route starts from Sandy Point State Park and finishes on Kent Island. The GCBS has been held annually in June since 1986. In 2020 and 2021, the race was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This event allows wetsuits; however, per the policy of this database, only unassisted, non-wetsuit finishers are listed here. Unfortunately, the timing company Lin-Mark Sports has not consistently distinguished between wetsuit finishers and unassisted (skin) swimmers in past years. Years that are not properly categorized are not included here.

Comments: "Completed event in 2022 & 2023. 2023 offered staged beach start where swimmers are sent off 8 at a time, swimmers self sort themselves by swim speed at start. This works better then a mass start stretched down the beach."
